SERVPRO of Monterey is looking for a motivated Construction Technician to join our growing construction team!

In this role, you'll perform a variety of general construction, repair, and finishing tasks to help restore residential and commercial properties following water, fire, and other property damage.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable working with their hands, pays attention to detail, and can work both independently and as part of a team.

If you have experience in general construction, carpentry, painting, drywall repairs, or handyman services, we'd like to hear from you!

What You'll Be Doing

As a Construction Technician, you'll work on a variety of projects, including:

General Construction & Repairs

  • Install baseboards, trim, and finish carpentry.

  • Assemble and install cabinets and other fixtures.

  • Perform minor drywall repairs, patching, and finishing.

  • Complete interior painting, touch-ups, and trim painting.

  • Install door handles, bathroom hardware, and electrical cover plates.

  • Perform minor plumbing repairs, including faucet and P-trap replacement.

  • Complete punch-list items and finishing details to prepare projects for completion.

Jobsite Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

  • Follow project instructions, specifications, and safety requirements.

  • Pick up, deliver, and organize construction materials.

  • Document work progress with photos and electronic job updates.

  • Communicate project progress, material needs, and potential issues to supervisors.

  • Identify additional repairs or work outside the original project scope.

  • Assist with jobsite inspections and final walkthroughs.

  • Support larger construction projects and coordinate with other team members and subcontractors as needed.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience or demonstrated ability in general construction, repairs, or related trades.

  • Ability to use common hand tools and power tools safely.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Good communication skills and a professional attitude.

  • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

  • Basic math and measurement skills.

  • Willingness to learn new skills and assist with different types of construction work.

  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in construction, property restoration, remodeling, or general handyman work.

  • Experience with finish carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and cabinet installation.

  • Familiarity with residential and commercial property repairs.

  • Experience using electronic job documentation or project management software.

You don't need to be an expert in every trade. We're looking for someone with solid hands-on abilities, a willingness to learn, and pride in doing the job right.

Work Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week.

  • Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

  • Occasional overtime, weekend work, or on-call assignments may be required.

  • Primarily local travel to customer job sites.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical construction work throughout the day.

  • Ability to occasionally lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Comfortable working around construction equipment, power tools, and varying jobsite conditions.
