Abatement Worker – Eco Safe Abatement (Portland, Oregon)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Full-Time
- Safely remove and dispose of hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, mold, etc.) from buildings and structures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations
- Prepare work areas by setting up containment barriers, ventilation, and decontamination units
- Use hand and power tools for material removal and site preparation
- Package and label hazardous waste for transport and disposal.
- Maintain accurate documentation of abatement processes and waste disposal.
- Clean and decontaminate work sites, tools, and equipment using HEPA vacuums and approved methods
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, for extended periods
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, safety managers, and project managers to ensure project goals and safety standards are met
- Perform occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and other physically demanding tasks
- Adhere to all company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Valid Worker or Supervisor Certification for asbestos abatement, in accordance with Oregon state and federal regulations
- Minimum 1 year of experience in abatement (asbestos, lead, or mold removal)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working in construction or environmental remediation preferred
- Ability to wear PPE and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to safety.
- Additional certifications in hazardous materials handling (e.g., OSHA, lead safety, HAZWOPER)[6].
- Experience with air monitoring and environmental compliance reporting[1].
- Familiarity with a variety of abatement projects (residential, commercial, industrial)[1].
